As we start to get back to some sort of normality after what has been an awful 2020 and 2021, we are looking forward to a new year full of events.
So whether you are planning a milestone birthday party, anniversary, christening or just a small back garden party to celebrate the start of summer, here are some of the top party trends for 2022.
Go big or go home
People are ready to celebrate more than ever and therefore want to make a big statement to their guests. Maybe it’s a larger bar budget or it could just be over the top decorations. What about unique catering such as a fish and chip, gourmet burger or street food van. Why not make a statement with a horsebox-come-gin or Prosecco bar too?
If you are looking to do unique food and drink, don’t forget the entertainment! Consider a tarot card reader, or a 360 photo booth or even a caricaturist. Your guests will love it!
Nothing like going live!
You cannot beat live entertainment to get your guests on the dancefloor. Whether this be a band, singer or a DJ, why not add to the uniqueness by having an impersonator, a fortune teller or even a magician?
For a more formal event, opting for live string trios or quartets playing contemporary music is another way of making sure your guests hit the dancefloor!
The Great Outdoors
According to the professionals, we will continue to see events being held either partially or entirely outside. Why not think outside the box for 2022, and look at choosing treehouses, festival-style sites or even locations off the beaten track.
Being able to hold parties all year round is now so important that venues are improving their outdoor spaces through the use of marquees, patio heating, outdoor lighting and décor to bring the “indoors” out.
Live your life in Colour
Monochrome is so last season don’t you know! Colour is making a comeback. From the invitations to the décor, to the lighting and tableware, make a statement for your guests when they walk into your event by adding bold colours or just go for it and mix colours that wouldn’t ordinarily go together. Be brave!
Let them eat BIG cake!
Whether you are celebrating a birthday, a wedding or just want a party, having a big cake is in. Cakes decorated in flowers and lots and lots of colour are currently trending and with guest numbers on the rise, the amount of tiers is also increasing. Having a four or five tier cake is no longer just seen as being for weddings but are becoming the norm.
With cake displays becoming the focal point of the party, have them set up in front of floral walls, balloons garlands or under fairy lights to really show them off.
Who needs a reason to party?
We are all ready to celebrate now that we have seen the back end of the last two years. And there doesn’t even have to be a real reason – let’s have a party just because we can! There are more birthday parties being booked and not just the usual milestone ones. Trending parties are for those that celebrate the summer, graduation and even divorce.
